Leather link is one of the Apple watch leather bands and it has several magnets sandwiched between each side of the band. Apple Watches have a water resistance rating of 50 meters. However, the Apple Watch leather band is not water resistance. 

Although Apple Watch Leather Link is made of handcrafted Roux Granada leather made in France, it is not completely waterproof. Because of that, leather bands are not supposed to be exposed to water for long periods. The rapid aging increases the potential of the strap breaking.

Wearing a leather strap in the shower can damage the strap due to the increase in the water and the alkalinity of the soap. The high water temperatures and soaps dry out the leather and the loss of moisture from the leather strap causes the strap to act as if it has shrunk. That is, the leather strap has hardened from the loss of water. The hardness of the strap leads to cracks, breaks, and splits in leather. After exposing to high water temperatures and soapy water, it needs to be rinsed with water and then dried with a towel. Once the strap is completely dry, conditioner and moisturizer should be applied.
