Leather is one of the most common materials used in the traditional watch industry. Leather link is one of the Apple watch leather bands and it has several magnets sandwiched between each side of the band. Apple Watches have a water resistance rating of 50 meters. However, the Apple Watch leather band is not water resistance. 

Although Apple Watch Leather Link is made of handcrafted Roux Granada leather made in France, it is not completely waterproof. Because of that, leather bands are not supposed to be exposed to water for long periods. If your leather band gets wet, you will need to make sure your band dries out thoroughly before your wear it again. Since leather bands are elegant and low-profile, they absorb sweat and dirt too. 

Leather Apple Watch bands can go well with formal and casual attire, they were not designed for the swimming pool. The chlorine in the water causes the band to age quickly and experience cracking. Moreover, Apple Watch leather bands that have not been water-proofed are not suited for the ocean water’s salt concentration. 3.5% salt concentration causes the strap to age and deteriorate at a much faster rate. The rapid aging increases the potential of the strap breaking.

Apple Watch leather band is durable but not forever, and any moisture to a leather watch band for extended periods will cause it to break down eventually. 

Can you shower with leather watch band?
In the light of the above, the leather Apple Watch strap is not water resistant. Thus you cannot shower click here with a leather watch strap. You should never let your leather watch band get wet. 

Wearing a leather strap in the shower can damage the strap due to the increase in the water and the alkalinity of the soap. The high water temperatures and soaps dry out the leather and the loss of moisture from the leather strap causes the strap to act as if it has shrunk. That is, the leather strap has hardened from the loss of water. The hardness of the strap leads to cracks, breaks, and splits in leather. After exposing to high water temperatures and soapy water, it needs to be rinsed with water and then dried with a towel. Once the strap is completely dry, conditioner and moisturizer should be applied.
